Georgia EV Fees and Incentives (2026)

Georgia charges a $238.59 annual alternative fuel vehicle fee on fully electric cars (July 2026 to June 2027), reset every July 1 for fuel efficiency and inflation. Plug-in hybrids pay it only with an alternative fuel plate; hybrids pay nothing extra.

The fee is reset every July 1; the amount for July 2027 to June 2028 has not been published yet.

No state-funded rebate or tax credit for buying an electric car is open in Georgia as of October 2026; check your electric utility for local rebates.

The federal clean vehicle tax credits (up to $7,500 for a new EV, up to $4,000 for a used EV, and the commercial clean vehicle credit) ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. A vehicle still qualifies if a binding written contract was signed and a payment made by that date, even if it was delivered later; the credit is then claimed for the year of delivery.
