Mississippi EV Fees and Incentives (2026)

Mississippi charges an annual fee on electric cars and on hybrids, including plug-in hybrids, paid with the car tag to the county tax collector. The statute sets $150 for an electric car and $75 for a hybrid and raises both with inflation every July 1 since 2021 (Miss. Code §§27-19-21 and 27-19-23); the state has not published the current amounts, so the calculator subtracts the $150 base, the least an owner pays.

The next inflation adjustment takes effect July 1, 2027; that amount has not been published.

No state-funded rebate or tax credit for buying an electric car is open in Mississippi as of October 2026; check your electric utility for local rebates.

The federal clean vehicle tax credits (up to $7,500 for a new EV, up to $4,000 for a used EV, and the commercial clean vehicle credit) ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. A vehicle still qualifies if a binding written contract was signed and a payment made by that date, even if it was delivered later; the credit is then claimed for the year of delivery.
