Maryland EV Fees and Incentives (2026)
Maryland adds $125 a year for an electric car and $100 for a plug-in hybrid, charged for every year of a one- to three-year registration; hybrids pay nothing extra. State law allows yearly inflation adjustments.
The fee may be adjusted for inflation each year, but no adjusted amount has been published, so $125 and $100 still apply.
Maryland EV excise tax credit (waitlist): Up to $3,000 off the titling (excise) tax on a new plug-in or fuel-cell vehicle, through June 2027. Funding has run out; the MVA is taking applications for a waiting list. Official program page.
The federal clean vehicle tax credits (up to $7,500 for a new EV, up to $4,000 for a used EV, and the commercial clean vehicle credit) ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. A vehicle still qualifies if a binding written contract was signed and a payment made by that date, even if it was delivered later; the credit is then claimed for the year of delivery.
