Idaho EV Fees and Incentives (2026)
Idaho adds $140 a year for an electric car and $75 for a plug-in hybrid on top of other registration fees; hybrids pay nothing extra. The amounts are set in law and not indexed to inflation.
No state-funded rebate or tax credit for buying an electric car is open in Idaho as of October 2026; check your electric utility for local rebates.
The federal clean vehicle tax credits (up to $7,500 for a new EV, up to $4,000 for a used EV, and the commercial clean vehicle credit) ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. A vehicle still qualifies if a binding written contract was signed and a payment made by that date, even if it was delivered later; the credit is then claimed for the year of delivery.
