Oregon EV Fees and Incentives (2026)
Oregon adds a fuel-efficiency fee to its two-year registration: $145 a year for electric cars and $65 for hybrids and plug-in hybrids rated 40+ mpg, versus $20-$25 for gas cars. OReGO per-mile drivers skip it; the fee is not indexed.
Road charging becomes mandatory at renewals from July 2027 (used EVs), January 2028 (new EVs) and July 2028 (hybrids and plug-in hybrids): pay per mile (now 2 cents) or a flat $340 a year.
Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate (open): $2,000 for a new electric car or $1,500 for a plug-in hybrid (MSRP under $50,000); income-qualified buyers get up to $7,500 new or $4,000 used. Only for purchases or leases August 25 to November 4, 2026. Official program page.
Oregon expects the rebate window to fill and plans to suspend rebates on November 5, 2026; approved applications beyond the funding go on a waiting list for spring 2027.
The federal clean vehicle tax credits (up to $7,500 for a new EV, up to $4,000 for a used EV, and the commercial clean vehicle credit) ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. A vehicle still qualifies if a binding written contract was signed and a payment made by that date, even if it was delivered later; the credit is then claimed for the year of delivery.
