Missouri 529 State Tax Benefit (2026)

Deduction of up to $8,000 ($16,000 on a joint return), per taxpayer. Missouri is one of the few “tax parity” states: contributions to any state’s 529 plan count, so you can pick a plan for its fees and investments and keep the state benefit.

The $16,000 limit applies to married couples filing jointly. You must attach proof of contributions made in your name. Nonqualified withdrawals from MOST or any other 529 are added back to the account owner's income, including previously exempt contributions and untaxed earnings.
