Massachusetts EV Fees and Incentives (2026)

Massachusetts has no extra fee for electric cars, plug-in hybrids or hybrids; an electric plate costs the same $60 for a two-year registration as a regular passenger plate.

MOR-EV rebate (open): $3,500 for a new electric or fuel-cell car with MSRP up to $55,000, or a used one up to $40,000 for income-qualified buyers; up to $6,000 with income and trade-in bonuses. Plug-in hybrids don't qualify. Official program page.

MOR-EV also offers $7,500 for electric pickups with MSRP up to $80,000. Plug-in hybrid rebates ended for purchases after June 30, 2023.

The federal clean vehicle tax credits (up to $7,500 for a new EV, up to $4,000 for a used EV, and the commercial clean vehicle credit) ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. A vehicle still qualifies if a binding written contract was signed and a payment made by that date, even if it was delivered later; the credit is then claimed for the year of delivery.
