How It Works

Passer rating boils a quarterback's passing line down to a single efficiency number, which is what makes it useful for stacking one performance against another. Because the formula is fixed, it travels cleanly across games and seasons, the 2026 NFL season included, giving you a common yardstick for comparing QBs.

Four inputs drive the result: completion percentage, yards per attempt, touchdowns per attempt, and interceptions per attempt. Each is converted to a value somewhere between 0 and 2.375.
